A native of rural South Texas, David Meischen has been writing poetry since his mid-thirties. Winner of the Merit Scholarship in Poetry for the Taos Summer Writers’ Conference, 2004, he has poems upcoming in Cider Press Review. His poetry has appeared in The Southern Review, Southern Poetry Review, Borderlands, Texas Poetry Journal and Di-Verse-City. Meischen is the co-founder of Dos Gatos Press, non-profit publisher of the Texas Poetry Calendar. The proud father of two sons, now in their mid-twenties, he lives in Austin, Texas, with his partner Scott Wiggerman and their cat Silver.
