Cold, Cold Heart
for Hank Water you can put your weight on without a thought of drowning in it, cold blue light hard beyond summer haze, like something that does not turn with the passing of passing time, moves glacier slow where air thins to make you mindful of breathing. If you melted a heart like this you'd cause a flood when what you want's a place to stand, a solid surface that will not break under the weight of a life, the weight of a soul, light distilled to transparency, glass you can see through, a body that can hold you. When it's clear and cold, you can see forever. When it freezes, you can walk on water. © Steven Schroeder
