Mindaugas Briedis

Mindaugas Briedis – philosopher (PhD) and song-writer from Vilnius, Lithuania. He works as a fulltime professor at several Vilnius universities. Also M. Briedis keeps alive bardic tradition which he understands as the oscillation between pure poetry and language/expression experiments. Similarly his music gravitates from traditional author’s songs genre, a la folk-rock arrangements to alternative acoustics. In his hometown Vilnius he chooses to perform rare but special gigs in prominent places such as planetariums, churches, cinemas and museums. Mindaugas is a part of international bard’s festival “Tai-As” (Vilnius). In 2008 Lithuanian Academy of Science recognized him as a leading young scholar in the category of humanities. In 2009 he published a book of poetry “Ice for Priapus”, recorded six albums total (seventh in production). In 2011 M. Briedis performed in Chicago (Cultural Center) and Santa Fe.
