Trickling stream
resisting summer drought
nearly spent now
drips
on moss and flintrock
as wind sings hope
of September rain
to bathe hay fields
replenish depths
we only imagine
buried
like the face of God.

drought
those dark clouds
rolling east look like lies
i remember the sky
telling when i
was a child.
they
say rain
rain
rain, but never
do, never
here,
never now.
